It’s possible to edit posts on Instagram, even though many other social media apps don’t allow for editing. You can edit an Instagram post to update your caption, tag people, add a location, and change its alt text.
To edit your Instagram posts:
- Navigate to your post.
- Click the 3 dots on the top right of your post.
- Hit the “Edit” button.
- Go ahead and edit your caption, change your location, add account tags to your photo or video.
- Hit “Done” on the upper right-hand side.
Can you edit Instagram post after posting?
Locate the Instagram Post
Tap Edit to go back into the text box and work your editing magic. Go ahead as far as correcting your mistakes or righting the wrong that got away from you. When you’re done, tap done for iOS or the Checkmark in the upper corner for Android.
Can you edit text after posting on Instagram?
Find the post that you need to edit and click the three dots in the top right corner. From the list of options, click “Edit”. You now have the chance to change or edit the whole of the caption, add or remove tags, change the location, and add alt text. When you’re done editing the Instagram post, click done.
Every time you edit your Instagram post (after you’ve posted it), Instagram resets your engagement ranking. All the likes & comments you’ve received up to that point will reset and not count anymore. If you’ve hit top posts for any location or hashtag, you’ll be taken off top posts.
Caption editing is only available from the mobile Instagram app, which can be downloaded from the App Store for free. Unfortunately, the option to edit media captions isn’t available from the web app. Keep in mind that after you edit a caption on Instagram, you can continue to go back and change it over and over again.
Can you edit an Instagram post and remove a photo?
As explained by Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, now, after you’ve uploaded a carousel of images and/or videos, you’ll be able to remove specific posts from that series by tapping on the three dots menu, selecting ‘Edit’, then tapping on the small trash icon in the top left of the image/video that you want to remove.
Hashtags can be added to regular Instagram posts at any time. Even years after the post first went live. It’s generally better to add them later than to not add them at all. But if you are starting fresh, don’t delay!
Step 1: First, open the Instagram app on your device. Step 2: Next, navigate to the Reel video that you’d want to edit. Step 3: Open the video and tap the three-dot icon. Step 4: From the given options tap Edit.
Once the caption is generated, you’ll be able to edit them in case of any inaccuracies, and you’ll also be able to change the font and styling of the text just like you would for any other stickers.
To add, edit or delete a caption:
- Tap (iPhone) or (Android) above your photo or video.
- Tap Edit.
- Edit, delete or add a caption to your post, then tap Done (iPhone) or (Android).
Is it bad to edit Instagram posts?
Yes and No. If you edit the post’s caption too frequently after posting it (Like 3–5 times every hour), Instagram will decrease the reach of your post. If you edit the post caption just 1–2 times total, it won’t influence your reach. And if you edit the caption after 24 hours, it won’t decrease your reach too.
No. Instagram doesn’t notify your followers if you edit the post caption. It notifies people when you start live streaming, and about new posts or stories but only if they turn on this notification for your account.
