The Silver Play Button. The Silver Play Button is the first play button award delivered to YouTubers with 100,000 subscribers as part of YouTube’s Creator Awards. The award is also the smallest in size of its type and is made out of 92% nickel, 5% carbon and 2.5% zinc, with traces of other metals.
There are four levels of YouTube Play Button:
- The Silver Play Button, for channels with 100,000 subscribers.
- The Gold Play Button, for channels with 1,000,000 subscribers.

Receiving a YouTube Play Button award
So here is the bad news: There is no such thing as a 1,000 subscribers Play Button award! (By the way, there is no award if your channel hits 10,000 subscribers either.) In YouTube terms, 10K subscribers still make for a pretty small channel.
It is made of gold-plated brass. In March 2018, the look of the Gold Play Button was updated from a metal button housed within a window box with the channel’s name printed on the front glass pane to a cleaner-looking flat designed metal plaque award featuring the channel’s name embossed on it.
Some creators have claimed that they received a bronze play button after reaching 100 subscribers, but they made this button themselves. While you do not get a bronze play button at 100 subscribers, you do become eligible to create a custom URL for your channel, which is arguably more useful to your channel’s success.
The Red Diamond Play Button is a special award by YouTube given to channels who reach 100,000,000 (100 million) subscribers. There are currently only four YouTube channels that have received this award, that being of YouTuber PewDiePie, the Indian music label T-Series, Cocomelon and SET India.
The Ruby Play Button, which is awarded to YouTubers with over 50 million subscribers, is custom-made instead of the usual plaque design for lower milestones.
The Custom Play Button or Ruby Play Button is a creator award given to YouTubers for reaching 50 million subscribers. It has no definite shape or color and as the name suggests is custom made with the channel’s logo and other features put on it.
